'Bafauri is a simple and light snack made from chana dal, onions and mix of spices and served with chutneys. It makes for a healthy alternative for a fried pakoda. This dish is native to Chhattisgarh and made during various festivals and occasions. Chana dal is high in fiber and fiber-rich food helps improve digestion. Steaming as a cooking technique is considered healthy because no oil is required and it helps preserves the nutrients. Let us know in the comment section below on how you like the dish. JOOSyTip : Soak chana dal in water for 8 to 10 hours before grinding it. Ingredients • 1 cup bengal gram soaked and ground • 1/2 cup onion chopped • 1 tsp chillies chopped • 1 tsp garlic paste • 1 tsp salt • 1 tbsp ginger chopped • 1 tsp turmeric powder • 1 tsp red chilli powder • 1 tsp baking soda • 1 tsp carom seeds • 1/4 cup coriander chopped • 1 tbsp oil • 2 tbsp water Instructions 1. Soak chana dal in water for more than 2-3 hours. 2. Drain the water and grind it to make a smooth paste. 3. Add all the ingredients except water in separate bowl. Mix them. 4. Add water if need to adjust the thick consistency batter for steaming purpose. 5. In a steamer, put the batter in small portions like pakoras or idlis. 6. Cook the Bafauri for 10 to 15 minutes in the steamer. Remove them. 7. Serve Bafauri as snack with green chutney.
